    Description

The LaSalle JZ4 archtop brings the character and performance of the great jazz and blues archtops together in a modern instrument. All the details from the F-hole, to the end of the fingerboard, to the shape of the pickguard, are consistent with the original spirit of those great early guitars. The LaSalle is equipped with Duncan Designed pickups to bring out the tone and character of this great design. The maple sides and back give a tremendous amount of attack to the guitar, just like the archtops from the big band era. This really pushes the brightness of the high end of the guitar. If you want a great guitar for jazz or blues that really puts out a lot of sound, the LaSalle JZ4 is what you are looking for.

    Description
Samick has announced that although they will continue to make guitars for the many brands that they currently produce, they are no longer going to make their own brand.  This means two things to you, first when this crop of Samick guitars are sold there will be no more.  Secondly Samick will hold its value or even go up over the years since they will no longer be made.

Here is a review from Guitar Player Magazine:
"We revisit big-bodied jazz boat territory with the Samick LaSalle JZ4, designed in the U.S. by Greg Bennett, and manufactured in Korea. This guitar takes us back to the tradition mined by the Epiphone Emperor Regent, although the LaSalle is generally more Gibson-like. It’s a 17" wide, 31/2" deep, parallel-braced archtop with a single Venetian cutaway, a laminated spruce top, and quilted laminated maple back and sides. The proffered 25 1/2" scale length of the bigger archtop returns here, too, coupled to a thin maple neck with flattish back and spliced-on headstock section. At around 7.5 lbs, this is also the heaviest guitar of the bunch...
This instrument displays a number of elements that hint at an effort to achieve a somewhat upscale product, including the fancy gold-plated lyre-style trapeze tailpiece, seven-ply body binding (echoed in five-ply at the fingerboard, headstock, and pickguard), Duncan-designed mini-humbucker, bone nut, and gold-plated Grover tuners. To top off the high-toned looks, a honey-blond natural finish displays the top’s tight, straight grain beautifully, and really harkens back to those big, blonde Gibson Super 400s that thumped out everything from swing to bop for countless jazz greats of the 1940s and ’50s."
I really enjoyed testing this guitar.  It has a very nice neck that plays smoothly up and down, and the "jazz box" hollow body combined with the Duncan Designed pickups put out a really full-bodied sound.
When we polished the guitar we noticed what appears to be a drop of some sort on the tail piece.  I have included a picture pointing to it.
    This guitar weighs 6.9 pounds.
