Red Star on Ty Tush tag
No printed numbers on inside of Tush tag, which indicates this is an EARLY produced Beanie Baby.  Printed numbers on the tag would indicate a LATER mass produced version and has no value.
Vibrant Purple with White Rose and bright green Stem
No space in paragraph containing profits being donated and memorial fund, which also indicates a very EARLY hand made Beanie Baby.
All of the above details make this an original 1st edition and extremely rare and highly collectible

This item is a Rare Princess Diana Ty Beanie Baby which is in perfect, mint condition. This Beanie Baby
is a 1st Edition Handmade in China Beanie Baby from 1997 with no space in paragraph following profits
being donated and memorial fund.  It is a PVC
not
PE pellets.  There is no number inside the tush tag
- this original/first edition had NO number (facility marking) inside Tush tag. Bear, tags and protective
hard plastic case are in mint condition.  Well protected in hard plastic case and the swing tag is in a
protector also.
History of the Princess Diana Beanie Baby
In October of 1997, Ty Inc. announced that a Princess Diana Beanie Baby was on the way. It was a charity Beanie Baby
with all profits going to the Princess Diana of Wales Memorial Foundation.
As the VERY FIRST edition arrived in retail stores in mid December of 1997, selected retail stores received ONLY 12 in
this shipment and ALL were PVC pellets, with non-numbered tush tags, that were made in China, with NO space between the
four lines under the poem.
ONLY 1st editions were filled and tagged with the rare PVC PELLETS. This version is the hardest to find because Ty ceased using PVC pellets so there are far fewer of these than any other version. In early January 1998 Ty Inc began talks with Greenpeace to cease usage of PVC pellets and begin using PE pellets. This corresponds with the Princess timeline.  Greenpeace protested at
the New York Toy Fair to halt the usage of PVC in children’s toys, and they announced that Ty Inc would be using PE Pellets for all future products. Greenpeace had commissioned a study of PVC ending in late 1997 and Ty Inc listened to their findings. The PVC pellet-filled, made in China, with no spaces on the swing tag, are the rarest & absolute original first editions.
PE was NOT the first version of pellets, PVC was as PE pellets weren’t used in any Beanie baby until 1998 AFTER Ty Inc had talks with Greenpeace.
ALL Princess Beanie Babies have the year 1997 on their tush tags. The date on the tush tag is the date the name is copyrighted, NOT the date the Beanie baby was produced.  The date never changes, even on Beanie Babies that are produced for years.
Only PVC tagged are the First Editions made.
Greenpeace did not sue Ty.  As a leader in the toy industry, Greenpeace approached.  Ty worked with Greenpeace on a solution.Below is a factual timeline of how the Princess
