NSN 4820-01-502-7372 Outlet Valve Disk (OVD) for M40 series gas masks & others including M40, M40A1, M42, M42A1, M43, M43A1, M45, M48, M17, M17A1, M24, M25, M25A1, and the 3M FR-M40 masks like FR-M40-10, FR-M40-20, & FR-M40-30. The Outlet Disk Valve is molded from a silicone rubber and has an approximate diameter of 1.20 inches in diameter x 1.182 inches long and is T shaped. The material thickness of the outlet valve disk is approximately .022 inches. Extending out from the center of the disk is a stem measuring slightly over one inch in length. Near the base of the stem is a knob that helps secure the outlet valve disk to the outlet valve body of the mask. The outlet valve disk allows a mask users exhaled air to be discharged from the mask and prevents outside air from entering the mask through the same opening.
A properly working outlet valve disk is a must for your mask to properly function, without it sealing properly you will inhale untreated air through the outlet. A replacement is cheap insurance, and good to have on hand in case you need one later.
