    The holder is metal, steel or chrome maybe.
    The metal base is darkened as you can see in the photo, from age and maybe air exposure.
    We have not tried to clean.
    Disassembles into 3 pieces.   The inside hole dimension on the top piece measures approx 1" across.
    We do not have a brush or bristles for this.
