This is a very interesting piece of Disney art - an 18.5" by 18.5" piece of blue fabric cloth with hand-drawn Donald Duck art from the legendary Bill Justice!
Bill Justice worked for Disney first as an animator and later as an engineer from 1937-1979! Mr. Justice worked on
Fantasia
,
Alice in Wonderland
, and
Peter Pan
among others, but may be best known as the animator for Thumper in
Bambi
! As an engineer he programmed characters for park attractions such as
Pirates of the Caribbean
and the
Haunted Mansion
. He was added as a member of the "Disney Legends" in 1996.
This original art piece depicts Donald Duck holding a paint palette in his left hand and using a brush in his right hand to paint Cookie Monster's head. Mr. Justice added text that reads "Best Wishes to the second best COOKIE MONSTER" and also signed his name near Donald's feet. There is no date or other information anywhere on this piece of fabric, and there is no Certificate of Authenticity for this art. Bill's signature does appear to match other instances we can see on the internet, but again we have no authentication for this item.
The pieces is in great condition overall! There appears to have been only very minor fading of the ink (if any!) over time. The fabric has been stored folded, so there is a large plus-shaped "crease" going through the art. There are numerous other minor spots of similar folding wear throughout the fabric. There are also some very minor spots of dirt or grime, but the fabric has not been washed for fear of destroying the art. Please see our pictures for more details.
