2020 Fender Shawn Mendes Foundation Musicmaster Floral Print w Coil Tap HS MIM Mexico + Extra Pickguard & Gig Bag
Very cool and very hard to find Shawn Mendes Foundation Musicmaster guitar. Guitar was damaged somehow (presumably in shipping) from a previous sale from another seller. Guitar still had plastic covering on neck pickup and neck plate and was assumed to have been new before the damage occurred.
I bought this guitar with cracked original pickguard. I glued the 2 broken pieces back together and used clear tape on the back side to fortify it. You can still see the cracks (see last picture), but the pickguard is usable. The finish of the guitar under the pickguard does show some chips and fractures by the neck pickup cavity and there is a crack in the wood of that cavity as well but the guitar is stable and set up well and plays great. There are also some finish cracks by the neck pocket which is pretty typical for any bolt on neck guitar.
I had a brand new pickguard made from Chandler Musical Instruments and decided to go with the black 3 ply (B/W/B) beveled guard shown on the guitar. I sent in the original pickguard to be copied as this Shawn Mendes guard was not in their inventory. All holes line up perfectly and I think the black guard looks amazing with this floral pattern and black dot inlays on the maple fingerboard. I removed the protective plastic sheet on the pickguard after my video demo (see pics and video).
The original pickguard is currently back on the guitar. The new black pickguard is also included.
All electronics work as intended and this guitar is equipped with a 3 way pickup selector switch (neck, both, bridge selections) and a universal volume and tone control. The tone control is also a pull coil tap feature for the neck humbucker pickup. The neck did need a side shim on the treble side for accurate string alignment, but neck shims are not uncommon for certain setups and was appropriate for this guitar. This guitar is set up well and has been intonated and plays great all the way up the neck. Neck is straight and truss rod works.
Comes with Fender hang tag, literature, sticker and truss and bridge adjustment tools that I received with this guitar. Guitar ships with a new Chromacast gig bag with tags still on it.
